Things lovingly handmade rather than mass produced in a big factory. Each of our suppliers is an individual craftsperson. They all use reclaimed materials to create something unique, new and desirable. Many of their creations are one off pieces you won’t find anywhere else. Handmade means you get a high quality product and you’re directly helping our suppliers make a living from doing something they really enjoy. Some of our suppliers are also co-operatives, employ disadvantaged people or donate their profits to charity. Background : I studied at Edinburgh College of Art,where I got a degree in tapestry & installation sculpture. I’m currently completing an MA in Creative Collaborations. What inspired you to use recycled materials in your work? : I’ve always worked in recycled, found and natural materials, since studying in the early 90's. The interaction between man and nature has always been at the core of my work and interests. My focus now is to decrease the environmental impact of my work by using as much recycled content as possible, more importantly it is to create a product that is cherished and kept. Where do you source your recycled materials from? : Local schools, businesses, friends and customers. What do you do in your spare time? : I don’t have as much spare time as I would like, but when I do find some, I like to walk, cycle and garden. I enjoy spending time with friends, family and my dad (my number one fan). Where would we be without friends?! What is the nicest compliment you’ve ever received about your recycled work? : I bumped in to a lady who had bought a ring years ago when I was starting out.
